Art Classes September through May

Young artists explore art history, basic theory, and technique by using art masters past and present as their guides. The process of creating is embraced. Small class sizes provide individualized attention and art materials are high quality.

My First Art Class:

Weekly class for the youngest artists (2's & 3's) and their favorite grown ups • We will explore our creativity with hands-on activities and process art projects. Come and go as your artist's attention span allows. Guaranteed to be messy (and fun) so dress appropriately. • $13 to walk in/$12 when you register/$300 unlimited 11:00 membership. (Same day registrations will be considered walk-ins)

Choose Thursdays 10:00am - 10:45 or 11:00am - 11:45

Art Explorers:

Six week sessions of weekly classes for PreK/K age artists (4's & 5's). A process-focused class for PreK/K artists who want to explore their abundant creativity. You may register for one session or several. Students who attend at least 2 of the 5 sessions are eligible to participate in the year-end art show.  • $95 per session includes all materials and supplies.   

Choose Tuesdays 3:00 - 3:45 or 4:00 - 4:45

PreK & Elementary 

Artist of the Week:

Six week sessions of weekly classes for elementary age artists (1st-5th). A different artist or genre each week! We will explore great artists' lives and processes, then apply what we've learned to our own art. You may register for one session or several. Students who attend at least 2 of the 5 sessions are eligible to participate in the year-end art show.  • $125 per session includes all materials and supplies.   

Choose Wednesdays or Thursdays 4:30 to 5:30

Homeschoolers

Draw Together:

Let's draw together! Make friends and grow your drawing skills in this open ended class. Explore new drawing mediums and prompts each week, with a healthy dose of art history and appreciation sprinkled in. There'll even be occasional field trips into the neighborhood to draw on nice days! Weekly class for homeschoolers ages 8 - 12. • $17 to walk in/$16 when you register/$93 per 6-week session. (Same day registrations will be considered walk-ins)

Tuesdays 1:00 - 2:00

Homeschool Creators:

A process approach to traditional art lessons. Artists will be offered an array of art materials,

prompts and lessons in art technique, appreciation and history. Weekly class for homeschoolers ages

6 - 11. Occasional field trips! • $17 to walk in/$16 when you register/$93 per 6-week session. (Same day registrations will be considered walk-ins)

Experimental Art:

Learn the rules - then break them! What happens when you mix oil and chalk pastels? Can you paint with string? How about a toothbrush? In this 6-week session, teen artists (ages 12 - 18) will explore various mediums to answer these types of questions and learn about other artists who broke the rules.Students who attend at least 2 of the 5 sessions are eligible to participate in the year-end art show. • $125 per session/$5 supplies fee includes instruction and all materials. • min. 3/max. 8 artists

 

Mondays 4:00 to 5:00

Tweens & Teens

Beginning Drawing:

Six week sessions of weekly classes for teen artists (6th - 12th). Explore dry media including pencil, charcoal and conte crayon as well as pen. Classes will build upon each other beginning with basic mark-making and working through contour drawing to shading and texture. Environmental and figure drawing will be covered as well as pen work. You may register for one session or several. Students who attend at least 2 of the 5 sessions are eligible to participate in the year-end art show. • $125 per session includes all supplies/materials and a personal sketchbook to document your art journey.     

Tuesdays 5:00 - 6:00

Sketch Club:

Draw all kinds of things with all kinds of things in a fun, low key art club environment! From charcoal to colored pencil to paint pens, still life to doodles to Manga...there'll even be occasional field trips into the neighborhood to draw on nice days! • Get a monthly membership for just $56 or drop in any Sunday for $15. Register ahead or pay at the door. (There is a $1.00 walk-in fee. Same day registrations will be considered walk-ins.) • Preteens/teens ages 12 and up.

Sundays 4:00 - 5:00

Adults

Drawing 101 

Six-week session of weekly graphite drawing classes for adult artists looking to build their drawing skills. Classes begin with basic mark-making and work through contour drawing to shading and texture. Environmental and figure drawing may be covered depending on class pace. Crafternoons

Spend an afternoon creating in community! Our Crafternoon series meets one Sunday a month at 2:00. Projects vary but are always process, open ended and focused on creative expression as a means to  personal growth and wholeness. Watercolor, fiber art, collage...we've spent afternoons creating all kinds of things that bring us joy! Check out what we're offering this month here ! • Suitable for teens (16+) & adults.

CANCELLATIONS: If cancellation is received more than 7 days prior to the event/session, a 10% cancellation fee will be applied to the refund. If participant cancels within 7 days of the event/session, no refund is available.

 

MISSED CLASSES: Because of limited capacity and high demand of Outside the Lines classes, we do not offer makeups or refunds for individual, missed classes.
